

They CAN register their English name, but it's not mandatory. Since there is no standard on how to translate "Kabushiki Kaisha", Japanese companies are free to choose whichever English name they like. Most Japanese companies with "Corp.", "Ltd.", "Co., Ltd.", "Inc." in their English name are actually registered as Kabushiki Kaisha. Is it possible "Cooking Mama Ltd." is a subsidiary of "Office Create Corp." ? The official names are "Office Create Corp." and "Cooking Mama Ltd." I think the "Corp" and "Ltd" designations can't just be changed willy-nilly.

It could potentially be even more complicated.
